Help your child prepare for high school, by feeling calm and confident with tools and techniques to help them in the lead up to starting and throughout their high school years

Starting High School can, without a doubt, be a daunting time for many students who often start to experience anxiousness or nerves, even if older siblings are already there or parents are teachers. As a parent, you may have started to notice changes in behaviour which could mean your student is experiencing anxiety. This workshop will allow your child to explore these feelings and to prepare in positive, calm and fun ways through:

  • playing mindful games.
  • using creative art activities to explore feelings.
  • learning and practising breathing tools.
  • ending with a positive mindful relaxation to allow the experience of ‘switching off’.

Your student will learn techniques to help in the time leading up to the start of school, and for first day jitters. If learnt and practised, these tools will also be incredibly valuable to them throughout their time at high school and beyond as they experience presentations in class, drama performances, assessments and exams, and day to day high school social life.

A combination of planning support with time management skills and revision tips alongside mindful techniques to ease the stress and pressure of exams throughout high school.

Youth Yoga Workshops

In these workshops we will explore and practise yoga to find calm and quiet strength in busy high school lives. Learning how to relax is a vital life skill for our teens and tweens.

Students spend much of their day seated at desks and hunched over devices; in yoga we practice traditional poses to stretch the body and strengthen the core to aid posture, balance and gently build physical strength. Yoga poses offer many variations suitable for every individual body, and holding these poses helps to teach resilience, motivation and focus as we tap into our inner strength. We explore how simple breathing exercises calm the nervous system, practise affirmative traditional salutation flows, stretch our bodies to counteract ‘phone posture’, and most importantly, learn ways to switch off and find quiet and calm at the end of each day.

Why do Youth Yoga?

  • build physical strength.
  • learn tools to help in times of anxiety and stress.
  • experience calm and stillness.
  • cultivate self-awareness.
  • foster a positive mindset.
  • build confidence.
  • have time to just be yourself.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW – You don’t have to be super bendy, or stretchy, or sporty…there is no such thing as being ‘good at yoga’; the point of the class is to come just as you are, be yourself, with no pressure to achieve. Everyone is welcome to this inclusive, safe space to be ‘you’.
