The Study Hall
Take the stress out of homework - for students and parents
The Study Hall is a structured, budget friendly study group designed to help high school students stay organised, manage their workload and complete their school work, removing stress from home. Students receive focused, distraction-free study time alongside guided instruction in planning, time management and effective proven study strategies.
During these sessions, students can ask questions, receive guidance on assignments, homework and how to study for exams and importantly build consistency with their study routine. In addition, each session included a short, explicit focus on a key study skill – skills that schools often do not have the time to teach in depth within the curriculum – and we practise these skills throughout the term.
This supportive structure helps students build confidence while giving parents peace of mind that schoolwork is getting done.
These skills:
- Support junior high school students to build strong foundations for success throughout high school
- Are essential for senior high school students managing multiple subjects and assessments
- Prepare students for increased independence required in university, diploma or certificate pathways

What this means for parents
You can step back from the daily reminders and tension around homework. With a structured weekly study routine in place, you can stop nagging, reduce conflict, and feel confident that your child is developing positive study habits with professional support.

What this means for students
Students use this weekly time to complete homework and assessment tasks, receive support with planning and breaking down assignments. They will learn practical study skills through short weekly focus sessions, including time management, planning, organisation and how to study effectively, and a variety of useful study tools. Most importantly, students build the one thing that makes the greatest difference at school: confidence—confidence in their ability to manage their workload, understand expectations, and approach learning with less stress.

Important Information About the Community Study Group
Please note that the Community Study Group is not a one-to-one tutoring service. While students will receive guidance and support, it is not possible to work intensively with one student for the entire session.
To ensure a focused and productive environment for all students, ongoing disruptive or distracting behaviour is not tolerated. This group is designed to provide a calm, structured space where students can concentrate, get started on their schoolwork, and build essential planning and organisational skills.
The Community Study Group offers these benefits at a lower cost than individual tutoring and is ideal for students who can work independently with light support.
If your child requires more intensive or personalised assistance, I would be very happy to discuss one-to-one tutoring or academic coaching, which provides explicit, individualised support with schoolwork, study skills, and executive function strategies tailored to your child’s specific needs.
The Community Study Group is a great fit for students who:
- Can work independently for short periods of time
- Benefit from a structured, calm environment to complete schoolwork
- Need help getting started, staying organised, or managing their workload
- Respond well to clear expectations and gentle guidance
- Would benefit from learning practical study and planning skills alongside peers
- Require constant one-to-one attention to stay on task
- Need intensive academic remediation or ongoing individual support
- Find group environments challenging or highly distracting
- Are currently experiencing significant learning or behavioural challenges that require specialised support
If you are unsure whether the group is the right fit, I am always happy to have a conversation and help you determine the most appropriate support for your child—whether that is the Community Study Group or individual tutoring and academic coaching.
